Cougars Head to UCLA
PROVO -- The BYU track and field teams are off to a good start in the outdoor season with dozens of athletes already qualified for regionals.
The men are currently ranked 11th in the country by Trackwire 25. All-American Josh McAdams, recently named the Mountain West Conference Co-Track and Field Athlete of the Week, will compete in his second 3,000-meter steeplechase of the year this weekend. McAdams won the event at the Stanford Invitational last week with a regional-qualifying time.
Women's 3,000-meter steeplechase All-American Rena Chesser will compete in the event for her first time this season. She will be joined by promising freshman Amy Fowler who will be making her debut in the steeplechase.
Both teams will be competing at the UCLA Invitational this week. Several sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers will also compete at the Texas Relays. The relays are an annual gathering of the nation's top professional, collegiate and high school track and field athletes, and a premiere event for sprinters. Most of the BYU athletes competing in Texas have qualified for regionals in at least one event.
Results will be available following Saturday's competition on www.byucougars.com.
