Track Heads to Arizona for Outdoor
PROVO -- Fresh off a strong showing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the BYU track and field teams begin the outdoor season at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
The Cougars' first outdoor meet of the year begins Friday evening with the women's hammer throw and the men's 400-meter hurdles. The meet concludes Saturday afternoon with the men's 4x400 relay.
The outdoor season adds several more events not included in the indoor season. Events new to the outdoor season include the hammer throw, javelin, discus, steeplechase, heptathlon (women), decathlon (women), 100-meter hurdles (women), 110-meter hurdles (men), 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100 relay.
Several athletes who skipped the indoor season, will compete outdoors, including All-American distance runner Michaela Mannova.
