Stanford Invitational Will Boast Tough Competition

PROVO -- The BYU men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete in the Stanford Invitational March 28-29.

The meet will be hosted by Stanford University and will take place at Cobb Track and Angell Field. Thousands of high school, college and professional athletes will compete in one of the largest invitational meets in the nation.

The Cougars will compete against dozens of other schools, including Nebraska, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, Stanford, Washington and Washington State.

With a complex schedule and several different heats of each event, collegiate competition will go from 10:45 a.m. to 10:50 p.m. Friday. The meet will continue Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m.

At last year's meet, more than 100 athletes posted NCAA automatic or provisional marks. With the new regional format this year, the BYU athletes will look to qualify for the NCAA Regional Meet.
