Track & Field Returns to Boise State

PROVO -- The men and women's track and field teams will travel to Nampa, Idaho, to compete in the BodyBuilding.Com Invite on Saturday, February 1.

Both Cougar teams are coming off a strong meet at the Utah Olympic Oval last Saturday where five athletes provisionally qualified for NCAA nationals. BYU kicked off its season by competing in the Bandanna Invitational in Boise, Idaho, on January 18.

For the women's team several distance runners will make their track debut, including Michaela Mannova, Kassi Anderson and Nan Kennard. Last year, Mannova placed eighth in the nation in the 3,000m, Anderson was an All-American last year in the 1,500m and Kennard placed fourth in the mile at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships.

The men's team will not send most of the distance runners. They will take a week off to rest and train for the distance medley relay next week at the Mountain States Games, where they plan to qualify for nationals.

Also competing at the meet will be Boise State, Oregon, Arizona State, Cal State LA and UTEP. The meet will start at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to finish at 2:30 p.m.
