Cougars to Compete in Air Force Open

PROVO -- The BYU women's track team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. this week to compete in the Air Force Open.

The meet will give the Cougars a chance to prepare for next week's Mountain West Conference Championships, which will be held in the same facility.

"Our purpose in going this weekend is to get our athletes better positioned in the conference," BYU women's head coach Craig Poole said. "It will also give us the chance to get to know the facility better and that's our main reasons for going."

The meet will also give the Cougars a chance to face off against some of the conference competition, with Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming scheduled to compete.

The BYU men's team will send five athletes to the Air Force meet as the rest of the team takes the week off to ready themselves for the conference meet.

The Air Force Open will go throughout the day Saturday, with events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. MT and the final event scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. MT.
