Track and field athletes named First-Team All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS – BYU track and field athletes Shaquille Walker, Zachary Blackham and Shea Martinez-Collinsworth were each named First-Team All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

To be designated First-Team All-America, athletes must finish in the top eight at the NCAA meet in their individual events or as part of a relay team. The NCAA Indoor Championships took place last weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.

Walker, a junior, was named a First-Team All-American after taking third overall in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:47.50 over the weekend. It is the fourth time he has been selected as an All-American, third time to the first team.

Blackham, a junior, garnered First-Team All-American honors in the men’s high jump after a third-place overall finish. He cleared 2.18 meters in Birmingham, and it is his first-ever selection to the All-America team.

Martinez-Collinsworth, a junior, is making her fourth appearance on the All-America squad after a fifth-place finish in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:06.57. It is the second time she has been named to the first team.
