EUGENE, Ore. – Shaquille Walker and Jason Witt along with three former Cougars will compete at the USATF Championships June 25-28 in Eugene, Oregon, for a chance to represent Team USA this summer.

Walker will run in the 800m, while Witt will run in the 10,000m. Former BYU track star Jared Ward is set to compete in the 10,000m, Chase Dalton in the decathlon and Victor Weirich in the pole vault.

Witt enters the meet as the top American collegiate athlete in the field and is coming off a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m earlier this month. This will be Witt’s third appearance at the USATF Championships.

Walker finished fifth in both the 800m and 4x400m relay at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships and comes into the meet as the No. 6 seed. As a freshman in 2012, Walker won the U.S. Junior Championships in the 800m and represented Team USA at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Walker will represent the United States this summer at the World University Games.

Dalton finished fifth last year at these championships and was also a U.S. junior champion in the decathlon in 2008. Dalton has represented Team USA twice, at the 2008 World Junior Championships and at the 2014 Thorpe Cup.

Ward is coming off victories earlier this season in the U.S Road Championships in the marathon and 25K. Weirich is once again competing in the pole vault after placing third last year.

The top athletes at the USATF Championships will receive consideration to represent Team USA at the Pan American games, the NACAC Championships, the Thorpe Cup, and the IAAF World Championships.

A complete schedule of the weekend's events and a live feed can be found on USATF's official website.
