PROVO, Utah – Jason Witt, Shaquille Walker, Anginae Monteverde and the men’s 4x400 team were officially named first-team All-America by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the outdoor season.

Individuals and relay teams earned first-team honors by finishing in the top eight at the NCAA Championships. Witt took third in the 10,000 meters final last weekend in Eugene, Oregon. Walker took fifth in the 800 meters. The 4x400 team, consisting of Mario Harper, Sean Adams, Jesse White and Walker, also took fifth. Monteverde placed sixth in the pole vault.

"Witt had a great season and finished it with a really great race to take third in the 10,000 meters," BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. "Walker had an amazing season and I'm certain there will be many more honors to come for him. The 4x400 team's success really highlighted what BYU track should be, a team experience. And Anginae (Monteverde), she really rose to the occasion. She had a great season and came through when it mattered most."

Based on their top-16 performances, Steve Flint and Spencer Gardner earned second-team honors. Flint finished 10th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Gardner placed 16th in the 10,000m.

Braydon Bringhurst (pole vault), Mark Carlson (400 hurdles), Kelsey Brown-Gilbert  (800 meters) and Shea Martinez (800m) garnered honorable mention by qualifying for the NCAA Championships in their respective events.

Walker is receiving his third and fourth All-America honors.  Witt is receiving his third. Bringhurst, Brown-Gilbert, Martinez and Monteverde are all being honored for the second time.
