Carr and Witt receive academic honors
PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s track and field seniors Curtis Carr and Jason Witt were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team today by CoSIDA.
Carr is an economics major and carries a 3.36 GPA. Witt is studying actuarial science and has a 3.32 GPA.
A native of Nashville, Indiana, Carr ran the mile and 3,000 meters during the indoor season and the 5,000 meters and the 3,000 meter steeple chase during the outdoor season. His best race of the year came at the Mt. SAC Relays where he took second in the steeple chase with a time of 8:37.54.
Carr was an All-American in the steeple chase in 2013 and a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
Witt is a native of Midlothian, Virginia, and starred on the cross country and track teams. He won the WCC cross country championships individual title to help lead BYU to the team title. Witt also earned NCAA All-Mountain Region honors and took 87th at nationals to help the Cougars claim fourth overall.
During the spring Witt qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters. He took 12th overall to earned second-team All-America status.
