USTFCCCA Rankings

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s track and field has climbed to No. 6 in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division I rankings released today.

The Cougars made the biggest jump in the rankings among teams in the top 10, moving up 11 spots from their previous ranking of No. 17.

The USTFCCCA uses a computer ranking system that is based on the national descending order lists. Athletes are assigned a point value for their ranking in their event and the points are then compiled for a team total.

BYU has two athletes ranked No. 1 in their respective events, Curtis Carr in the 3,000 meter steeple chase and Jason Witt in the 10,000 meters. Other athletes ranked in the top 10 in their events are Jared Ward (No. 2) and Jonathan Nelson (No. 8) in the 10,000 meters and Ward (No. 4) in the 5,000 meters. Chase Dalton is ranked just outside the top 10 in the decathlon at No. 11.

The Cougars return to action on Thursday at home when they host the BYU Cougar Invitational. The meet begins at noon MT at the Clarence F. Robison Track Complex.
