Former All-American Pugsley passes away

Former BYU All-American decathlete Curtis Pugsley passed away August 10, 2013 after a battle with cancer.

"The BYU track and field team lost a great man, Curtis Pugsley," coach Mark Robison said. "We wish to extend our deepest condolence to Heidi and his family.  Curtis is a friend to all and a great competitor.  He will be missed but not forgotten. For the past two years the track teams have celebrated the Curtis Pugsley Athlete of the Year award, a tradition that will live on in his honor.  It has been my honor to have known Curtis as a coach and friend."

Pugsley was a three-time Mountain West Conference champion. He earned All-American honors as a freshman in 2000 after a 6^th place finish at the NCAA championships in the decathlon. He is remembered as one of the greatest decathletes in BYU history. The annual track and field athlete of the year award is given in his name.

Funeral services will be held at the Grasslands Chapel, 996 W. Center Street, Springville, Utah, on Tuesday, August 13^th. Family and friends may greet the family from 10:00-11:30 AM followed by a funeral service from 12:00-1:00 PM.
