Sixteen awarded All-Academic honors

NEW ORLEANS- Sixteen members of the BYU men’s track & field team were awarded with All-Academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2013 season.

A total of 448 men from 149 institutions earned All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom. For the second consecutive season, BYU topped the list with 16 honorees.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have maintained the following academic and athletic standards:

  • Compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25
  • Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event (indoor)
  • Ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event (indoor)
  • Participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds (outdoor)

The Cougars also received the distinction as a Division I All-Academic team with a team GPA of 3.02. To qualify, the team must maintain a combined GPA of 3.00 or higher. A total of 111 teams were awarded All-Academic team honors.
