Men send six to U.S.A. Championships

 PROVO, Utah - BYU men’s track and field will send six athletes to the 2013 U.S.A. Track and Field Championships, held June 19 to 23 in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake University.

All-Americans Jared Ward and Victor Weirich will compete in the senior division in an attempt to represent the United States at the 2013 Track and Field World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Freshmen Marcus Dickson, David Graham, John Glazier and Dennis Christensen will compete in the junior division where they will try to qualify for the 2013 Pan American Junior Championships in Medellin, Colombia.

In the senior competition, Weirich ranks 12th in the pole vault while Ward ranks 18th in the 10,000-meter run.  The top three finishers who have also achieved the world championships A-standard will represent the United States in Russia.

In the junior competition, Dickson heads into the meet ranked first in the junior men’s 800-meter run, while Graham is seeded fourth.  Glazier is ranked sixth in the junior men’s long jump and Christensen is ranked eighth in the junior men’s shot put. The top two finishers who have also achieved the 2012 Junior World Championship qualifying standards will earn a spot on the United States Junior team and compete in Colombia.
