Men's Golf Picked to Finish Fourth
SAN BRUNO, Calif. –The BYU men’s golf team has been selected to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference men’s golf preseason poll of the WCC’s eight head coaches.
Junior Zac Blair was also picked to the All-Conference Team after being named to the 2012 Ben Hogan Watch List earlier this year.
Saint Mary's College has been selected as the favorite after receiving four first place votes in the poll (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team).
San Diego was picked to finish second with 32 points as voted on by the WCC golf coaches. The Toreros return senior Alex Ching, the 2011 WCC Player of the Year. Ching shot a 4-under at last year's WCC Golf Championships, tying with San Francisco's Taylor Travis for the conference's top score.
San Francisco, the 2011 WCC champion, was picked to finish third while Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount were picked to finish fifth and sixth, respectively in the WCC. Rounding out the poll are Santa Clara and Gonzaga.
