Summerhays Off to a Fast Start on PGA Tour
PROVO -- Since earning his PGA tour card in 2010, former BYU All-American Daniel Summerhays is 33rd on the money list after top-35 finishes in the first two tournaments of 2011.
After tying for 34th at the Sony Open in mid-January, finishing at 5-under with a low round of 64, Summerhays captured his first top-20 finish on the PGA Tour, tying for 11th after shooting 22-under at the Bob Hope Classic.
Summerhays is currently 24th in the FedEx Cup point standings; a ranking that is determined by Tour event finishes throughout the season, with the champion receiving bonus prizes from a large cash purse.
The next PGA Tour event is the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif. Summerhays tees off at 10:20 a.m. PT on the first tee of the North Course. Fellow Cougar alumnus Mike Weir joins the 156-golfer field and tees off at 10 a.m. on the tenth tee of the North Course.
Live action will be broadcast on the radio through Sirius XM and on television via the Golf Network and CBS. To learn more about the Farmers Insurance Open, visit the tournament Web site by clicking HERE.
