Findlay coming to town for exhibition game

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball will play its final game of the preseason when it hosts Findlay on Saturday at 7 p.m. MDT in the Marriott Center. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv and KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.

The Cougars opened exhibition play on Friday, Oct. 26, with a 46-point victory (103-57) against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Senior forward Brandon Davies led the way with 25 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of play. Senior guard Brock Zylstra came off the bench and posted 17 points and six boards while sophomore guard Tyler Haws was also in double-digits with 15 points. Newcomers Raul Delgado and Cory Calvert added nine and eight points, respectively, and sophomore guard Matt Carlino distributed eight assists.

Findlay, an NCAA Division II program out of Ohio that plays in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, is coming off an exhibition loss to Dayton, 77-58, last Saturday. Jake Heagen and Greg Kahlig led the way for the Oilers with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Last season Findlay finished 24-7 overall and 14-5 in the GLIAC. The Oilers won the GLIAC Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Oilers enter this season ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II preseason poll and were selected to win the GLIAC South Division.

BYU opens the regular season with the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic tournament. The first two games will be held in Provo on Nov. 9 and 13 against Tennessee State and Georgia State. Both games will tip at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center and will be broadcast live on BYUtv and KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM.
