PROVO, Utah – Cougar fans will have a chance to preview the 2012-13 BYU men’s basketball team on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the annual Papa John’s Cougar Tipoff in the Marriott Center. The event is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. MT with doors opening at 6 p.m.

For the second-straight season, the Tipoff will be broadcast live online at BYUtvsports.com. Robbie Bullough and former BYU coach Steve Cleveland will call the action.

The Tipoff features a full-length scrimmage, giveaways and a meet-the-team autograph signing with free posters.

Schedule of Events

6:00 – Doors Open

7:00 – Lights Out Introductions

7:05 – Tipoff

Papa John’s will give away prizes at halftime and throughout the event. Players will be available for autographs following the Tipoff.

The Cougars return three starters in seniors Brandon Davies and Brock Zylstra, and sophomore Matt Carlino from the 2011-12 squad that won 26 games and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Tyler Haws, who started 33 games in 2009-10, returns after serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines. Rose also has five other players with starting experience and a talented recruiting class to help ease the burden of replacing All-WCC honoree Noah Hartsock and BYU’s iron man Charles Abouo, mainstays in the Cougar lineup the past four seasons.

BYU plays exhibitions in the Marriott Center on Oct. 26 vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State and Nov. 3 vs. Findlay. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on BYUtv and BYUtvsports.com. The 2012-13 season will tipoff at home with Tennessee State on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. MT.
