Martineau Will Not Return in 2012-13

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose announced today that Nick Martineau will not return as a member of the BYU basketball team in 2012-13.

Martineau will graduate from BYU in business management with an emphasis in finance this summer. He has been accepted to BYU’s statistics graduate program, but is currently considering his options going forward.

Martineau lettered three years at BYU and was a member of two conference championship teams and three NCAA Tournament teams. He has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining. Martineau’s freshman year was in 2007-08, when BYU won the Mountain West Conference regular season title and finished 27-8 overall.

After serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile, Martineau returned for his sophomore season in 2010-11. That team won a program record 32 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. This past season he helped BYU finish 26-9 overall and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

A two-time MWC Scholar-Athlete, Martineau appeared in 64 games in his career. The Fruit Heights, Utah, native prepped at Davis High School where he earned first-team all-state and region MVP honors as a senior. He also earned first-team all-state accolades in football.
