Cougars to Host Midwestern State

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball will play its first of two exhibition games on Saturday when the Cougars host Midwestern State at 7 p.m. MT in the Marriott Center. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv and BYUtv.org.

BYU is coming off the annual Cougar Tipoff, won by the Blue Team 74-71. Noah Hartsock led the Blue squad with 24 points and 13 rebounds and Charles Abouo added 19 points and three assists. Stephen Rogers paced the White Team with 20 points and Brandon Davies added 19 points. Brock Zylstra posted 16 points and six assists.

Midwestern State is one of the top programs in NCAA Division II and posted a 25-9 record in 2010-11. The Mustangs advanced to the Elite Eight of the Division II Tournament before losing to Bellarmine, the eventual national champions.

The matchup with Midwestern State features the return of Michael Loyd, Jr., to the Marriott Center. Loyd played two seasons for BYU and helped the Cougars advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2010.
