Fredette to hold Youth Basketball Camp & Coaching Clinic
MURRAY, Utah – 2011 Naismith National Collegiate Player of the Year and former BYU star Jimmer Fredette of the Sacramento Kings has announced that he will be holding a youth basketball camp for boys and girls ages 8-16 on Sept. 24, 2011 at The Park Center in Murray, Utah. The camp will be one day and consist of two separate sessions. Session I will run from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for campers ages 13-16 and Session II will run from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm for campers ages 8-12. Camp is limited to the first 300 participants per session.
In addition to the youth camp, Jimmer will also be hosting a coaching clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. on the evening of September 24th at The Park Center.
The Jimmer Fredette Youth Camp seeks to develop a positive all-around athlete on and off the court, giving campers an opportunity to fully realize their potential in an enriching, fun, and safe environment – an environment that encourages teamwork, gamesmanship, self-confidence, respect and dedication to the game of basketball. The Jimmer Fredette Youth Camp is committed to the development of fundamental skills and technique enhancement.
Fredette was recently selected as the No. 10 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. Prior to be drafted he gained his national notoriety during his collegiate career at BYU for his spectacular scoring performances. Jimmer led all of the NCAA Division I in scoring his senior season with 28.9 points per game. On top of that he was honored with every major National Player of the Year award, including the Wooden Award, the Naismith Award, the Associated Press Trophy and the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-16 and will cost $150.00 per camper, which includes a t-shirt, autographed photo of Jimmer Fredette, camp photo and instruction from some of the top coaches in the Salt Lake area.
The coaching clinic following the Youth Camp will feature Fredette, BYU head coach Dave Rose, skills instructor Lee Taft and on-court demonstrations featuring a Jimmer Fredette workout.
