Fredette on Cover of Sports Illustrated
MARCH 16, 2011 – BYU senior guard Jimmer Fredette is featured on one of Sports Illustrated’s five regional covers this week leading into the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Fredette, named an All-American by the USBWA, CBSSports.com, SI.com, Yahoo! Sports and FoxSports.com, has led BYU to a 30-4 record and a No. 3 seed in the Southeast Region of the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars play Wofford on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. MT in Denver at the Pepsi Center.
The native of Glens Falls, N.Y., leads the nation in scoring at 28.5 points per game and contributes 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Fredette holds BYU’s single-game, single-season and career scoring records.
Other players featured on the regional covers include Marcus Morris (Kansas), Nolan Smith (Duke), Kemba Walker (Connecticut) and David Lighty (Ohio State).
