Forde Minutes Names Fredette Player of the Year
PROVO -- Pat Forde, author of the weekly online column Forde Minutes on ESPN.com, has named Jimmer Fredette the national player of the year and a first-team All-American.
The Glens Falls, N.Y., native leads the nation in scoring at 27.9 points per game and adds 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He led the Cougars to a 28-3 record in the regular season, a share of the Mountain West Conference regular season title at 14-2 and a top 10 ranking for the past eight weeks.
CBSSports.com also named Fredette the player of the year and an All-American and Yahoo! Sports and FoxSports.com have named him an All-American as well. On Monday, Fredette was named the MWC Player of the Year and to the All-MWC First Team.
The Cougars open the Conoco MWC Tournament on Thursday as the top seed against Wyoming or TCU. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT and will be televised live on The Mtn. Fans can also listen live on KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM or online at KSL.com.
