Fredette Earns Fourth-Straight MWC Weekly Award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – BYU senior Jimmer Fredette has been named the Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 23. This is the sixth weekly accolade of the season for Fredette and 13th of his career.
Fredette averaged 31.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal last week while helping the ninth-ranked Cougars to wins over TCU and Colorado State. The senior guard from Glens Falls, N.Y., opened with 21 points, five assists and three rebounds in an 83-67 victory against TCU on Tuesday. He followed that performance with his second 40-point outing of the season, scoring 42 points to go with four assists and four rebounds in a 94-85 win at Colorado State. For the week, Fredette was 17-of-40 (.425) from the field, including 6-of-14 (.429) from 3-point range, and 23-of-25 (.920) from the free throw line.
