PROVO -- BYU basketball coach Dave Rose has announced that sophomore forward Chris Collinsworth is out for the season following knee surgery.

Collinsworth had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Friday, Jan. 14, that revealed cartilage damage that required microfracture surgery. He will be out four to five months for rehabilitation. Collinsworth is expected to be ready for the 2011-12 season.

Prior to the surgery, Collinsworth had played in nine games, averaging 5.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting .410 from the field and .741 from the free throw line. He posted a career-high 15 points against Chicago State and had a near double-double with 11 points and eight boards against Fresno Pacific.
