Team Notes

- The Cougars shot 8-for-14 from behind the arc in the first half. They finished the game shooting 14-for-24 from long range. The school record for team three-pointers in a game is 15 which was recorded against UNLV in 2007.

Record Watch

- With 12:47 remaining in the first half, Jackson Emery passed Danny Ainge as the all-time BYU leader in career steals with 196. Ainge recorded 195 steals during his career from 1977-81. In true Emery fashion, he immediately dished the ball to Fredette for an easy layup.

- Also in steals history, Fredette’s steal with 10:39 remaining gave the senior guard lone possession of the fifth place record in career steals with 141 steals over the course of his four years as a Cougar. Previously Fredette was tied with Scott Sinek who recorded 140 steals for BYU from 1981-85.

- Fredette’s 32 first half points gave him 13 30-point games in his career behind Michael Smith and Devin Durrant who each scored 30+ points 17 times during their career at BYU. Fredette’s 13 30-point games puts him ahead of Danny Ainge in the category. Ainge scored 30+ points 12 times during his career.

- Fredette’s driving layup with 12:39 remaining gave the Glens Falls native 38 points and beat the all-time individual scoring record in a game vs. Utah. The previous individual record versus Utah was previously held by Fredette for his 36 point outing against the Utes last season.

- Fredette and Emery reached significant career scoring milestones at Utah. Emery became the 42nd member of BYU's 1,000-point club when he hit a three with 6:55 remaining, his final points of the night. He has exactly 1,000 career points. Fredette became the fourth BYU basketball player to reach 2,000 career points when he hit the first of two free throws with 3:07 remaining. He hit the second of two free throws for his final point of the night and to give him 2,001 career points.

Game Trends

- In the first half both teams exchanged points through most of the first half but in the final ten minutes of the first half, BYU was able to extend their lead over the Utes by capitalizing on hot shooting from long range. From the 9:39 mark through the 5:22 mark BYU outscored Utah 19-6.

- Utah started the second half on a 4-0 run but BYU quickly took over outscoring the Utes in the second half 51-37.
