Remember When... BYU Defeated No. 6 Louisville in Las Vegas?
BYU men’s basketball defeated No. 6 Louisville in the Las Vegas Invitational 78-76, the highest-ranked team BYU had defeated since 1965. Jonathan Tavernari paced the Cougars with a career-high 29 points while Trent Plaisted added a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cougars led 41-37 at the half but there were five lead changes and two ties in the second half. Louisville trailed 76-73 and had the ball with 11 seconds remaining but missed a game-tying three. Tavernari grabbed the rebound and hit two free throws to seal the victory.
