Fredette Named to AP Preseason All-America Team
PROVO -- The Associated Press announced today that BYU guard Jimmer Fredette has been named to its preseason All-America team.
Fredette returns for his senior season after averaging 22.1 points and 4.7 assists and leading the Cougars to a program-record 30 victories and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He has been named a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports, Sporting News, Dick Vitale and Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. Fredette has also been named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50.
Joining Fredette on the preseason All-America team are Duke’s Kyle Singler, North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes, Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen and JaJuan Johnson of Purdue.
BYU begins the 2010-11 season at home vs. Fresno State on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The Cougars host BYU-Hawaii in their final exhibition on Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on BYUtv.
