Where would you be without basketball?

Without basketball I’d probably be a book worm. My parents always stressed education so I’d probably be really into books if I weren’t playing any kind of sport. It was always books and family and God first and then basketball second.

Why basketball?

Probably about fourth grade I was playing a lot of sports — tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball. I sat down and talked to my dad and he said it was time to narrow it down to one sport and get really good at that, so I picked basketball and I knew that was the sport for me.

Best family basketball memory?

We had a tournament in California and my aunts came. They were sitting there screaming and yelling while I was playing. It was good at the time because I had that family support, but it was embarrassing.

Any advice for young players?

Definitely stay humble, always work hard and never feel like you’ve made it. That’s one thing my family always taught me, to never be happy with where you are, but to always try and get better.
