Remember When... Bob Skousen Scored 47 Points vs. UCLA?

While the 1961-62 BYU men’s basketball team won’t be remembered for its record, one moment from early that season stands out in Cougar basketball history. In just his second game since returning from a two-year LDS mission in Australia, guard Bob Skousen put on a show against UCLA in the Smith Fieldhouse, scoring a then-BYU record 47 points on 19 field goals and 9-of-11 free throws.

After current Cougar Jimmer Fredette broke the scoring record with 49 vs. Arizona on Dec. 28, 2009, Daily Herald reporter Jason Franchuk caught up with Skousen, who reminisced about his playing days. CLICK HERE to read the article.
