More Preseason Recognition for Cougars and Fredette
PROVO -- Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook announced that BYU senior Jimmer Fredette has been named to its preseason All-America First Team. The Cougars are also ranked No. 22 in Blue Ribbon’s preseason top 25.
Fredette has received preseason honors, including first-team All-America recognition from Dick Vitale, Athlon Sports and Sporting News. Lindy’s and Sporting News have named him the nation’s top point guard heading into the 2010-11 season. The Glens Falls, N.Y., native was seventh in the nation in scoring last season at 22.1 points and added 4.7 assists while shooting .458 from the field, .440 from three and .892 from the free throw line.
In 2009-10, Fredette helped BYU to a program-record 30 wins and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He set BYU records with 49 points and nine threes in a win at Arizona, scored 45 points in an MWC Tournament game vs. TCU and posted 37 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament vs. Florida.
