Abouo Scores 19 in Win vs. Puerto Rico
ANKARA, Turkey — BYU guard/forward Charles Abouo is playing with Cote d’Ivoire National Team in the 2010 FIBA World Championships. Through four days of group play, Cote d’Ivoire is 0-3 in Group C.
Turkey 86, Cote d’Ivoire 47 — Aug. 28
Cote d’Ivoire started the 2010 FIBA World Championships with an 86-47 loss to host Turkey. BYU’s Charles Abouo started at guard and finished with two rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes.

China 83, Cote d’Ivoire 73 — Aug. 29
Charles Abouo scored eight points to go with seven rebounds and two assists in the Cote d’Ivoire loss to China. Cote d’Ivoire trailed through but made a push in the fourth quarter and cut the gap to seven at 80-73.

Russia 72, Cote d’Ivoire 66 — Aug. 31
Cote d’Ivoire has its best performance of the World Championships on Tuesday in a close loss to Russia. The Ivorians trailed by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter but cut the lead to two with 18 seconds remaining at 68-66 with an 8-0 run. Russia escaped with the win to drop Cote d’Ivoire to 0-3 in group play. Charles Abouo posted to points in eight minutes.

Greece 97, Cote d’Ivoire 60 — Sept. 1
Cote d’Ivoire fell to 0-4 in Group C at the 2010 FIBA World Championships on Wednesday. Charles Abouo had two points and one board in 13 minutes.

Cote d’Ivoire 88, Puerto Rico 79 — Sept. 2
Charles Abouo and the Cote d’Ivoire national team closed the 2010 FIBA World Championships with an 88-79 victory over Puerto Rico. Abouo played his best game of the tournament with a team-high 19 points to go with three rebounds and two steals.
Abouo hit 5-of-11 from the field, 2-of-6 from downtown and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. With Cote d’Ivoire leading 19-14 to start the second quarter, Abouo hit a three and scored off an offensive rebound to give his team a 26-14 lead. He later scored two inside to make it 34-23. With the lead down to three at the end of the third quarter, Abouo hit his second three to give Cote d’Ivoire a 61-55 lead.
Puerto Rico fought back and tied the score at 64-all with 8:46 remaining in the game. Abouo hit two free throws to make it 66-64 and two more with 5:47 remaining to make the score 72-67. He hit three free throws and scored inside to help put the game away.
