PROVO -- BYU guard Jimmer Fredette has been named to the 2010-11 Rivals.com All-Senior First Team. The accolade is the first preseason honor for the Glens Falls, N.Y., native, who was named to five All-America teams and the All-MWC First Team in 2009-10.

Joining Fredette on the All-Senior First Team are Robbie Hummel (Purdue), Kyle Singler (Duke), LaceDarius Dunn (Baylor) and Jacob Pullen (Kansas State).

Fredette averaged 22.1 points and 4.7 assists per game in 2009-10 while leading the Cougars to a program record 30 wins and a victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He was seventh in the nation in scoring and was ranked in the top 10 in the MWC in eight statistical categories. The 6-2 guard was also one of the top shooters in the nation, connecting on 44.0 percent from three and 89.2 percent on free throws.

In addition to his statistical rankings, Fredette had several memorable performances. In a 99-69 win at Arizona, he set BYU records with 49 points and nine threes. Against TCU in Las Vegas he scored an MWC Tournament record 45 points. With 30 against UNLV in the second round, his combined total of 75 points also set an MWC Tournament record.

One of his biggest games came in the first round of the NCAA Tournament when he posted 37 points in BYU’s 99-92 double overtime win against Florida. The win gave the Cougars their first trip to the second round in the tournament since 1993.

Fredette will enter his senior season 11th on BYU’s all-time scoring list, third in career threes and tied for fifth-most assists. He will also have the chance to finish his career as the program’s all-time leader in free throw percentage. Fredette’s career percentage of 87.4 trails only Michael Smith (87.8).
