FORT COLLINS -- Jimmer Fredette scored 36 points and Noah Hartsock had 12 points and 12 rebounds as No. 14/16 BYU improved to 24-3 overall and 9-2 in the MWC with a 92-70 win at Colorado State on Wednesday.

Fredette shot 6-for-10 from three, 12-for-22 overall and 6-for-7 from the free throw line for his fifth game of 33 points or more this season. The junior guard also finished with six assists, five rebounds and one steal.

Hartsock's double-double is the first in the sophomore forward's career, adding two blocks and two assists. Hartsock's 12 rebounds and 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line were both career highs.

"Right now is the most important part of your season because you set yourselves up to make these games really, really important," said BYU head coach Dave Rose. "It's getting your ninth conference win, that's the whole focus of your group. Now the most important thing is to get your 10th conference win. This team is very good at that."

BYU went on an 11-2 run midway through the second half, pulling ahead 76-53 with 8:25 to play. Fredette nailed a three, followed by a layup and two free throws from Jackson Emery.

Emery contributed 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting and four rebounds. Jonathan Tavernari rounded out the double-figure scoring with 12 points and four steals.

"I thought our zone was a lot more active, plus it caused them some problems," Rose said. "Noah was terrific as far as defensive rebounds were concerned, getting the ball out into transition."

BYU has beaten the Rams eight straight times while sweeping the last three season series.

BYU will next travel to Wyoming to play the Cowboys on Saturday at 4 p.m. MT. The game will be televised live on The Mtn.
