TROY -- Jimmer Fredette, BYU’s all-conference point guard and the leading scorer in New York Boy’s Basketball Section II history, was a member of the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame’s inaugural induction on Sunday.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized with all the great players and coaches in Section II history from the past 50 years,” Fredette said. “I was excited to be on the list.”

Fredette established himself as a legend at Glens Falls High School by scoring 2,404 career points, a school and Section II record and the sixth-highest mark in New York boy’s basketball history. He was named first-team all-state by the New York State Sportswriters Association and the Times Union as a junior and senior. Fredette was named the state player of the year as a senior and was an all-state wide receiver in football as a junior.

As a senior he averaged 28.8 points, made 81 threes and shot 92.0 percent from the free throw line while leading his team to a 25-2 record and the Class A State Championship game. During his junior season, he averaged 29.3 points, made 76 threes and led his team to a 21-2 record. During his junior and senior seasons, he had games with 46 and 43 points and had 24 games with 30 points or more.

The only sophomore to be named first-team All-Mountain West Conference this past season, Fredette led the Cougars to a 25-8 record and a 12-4 mark in the MWC for a share of the league title. He averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds this past season.
