PROVO -- The BYU men's basketball team opens exhibition play Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Cougars host Concordia University in the Marriott Center.

From Montreal, Quebec, in Canada, Concordia University is off to a 5-3 start to its season. The Stingers are led by 6-foot-3 guard Dwayne Buckley and 6-foot-1 point guard Damian Buckley. Damian scored 22 points in Concordia’s loss to Vermont on Saturday while Dwayne added 12 points and nine rebounds. In addition to playing BYU, Concordia will face Utah State on Saturday. The Stingers have gone 0-3 against NCAA competition already this season with losses to Virginia, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Former Cougar player and assistant coach Andy Toolson will provide color commentary on BYUTV alongside Chris Tubis doing the play-by-play. In addition to coverage on BYUTV, KSL Newsradio will stream the game live online at KSL.com via the KSL X-Stream. Greg Wrubell will call the play-by-play action with former Cougar player Mark Durrant providing game analysis.

Junior guard Jonathan Tavernari led all scorers in last week’s Cougar Tipoff with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, helping the White team record a 59-51 victory over the Blue team. Senior forward Lee Cummard, the 2007-08 MWC Co-Player of the Year, had 11 points. Freshmen Charles Abouo and Matthew Pinegar also contributed with 11 points each. Tavernari and freshman guard Jackson Emery led all rebounders with eight apiece.
