Jimmer Fredette set to represent United States at FIBA 3x3 World Cup
PROVO, Utah – Former BYU men’s basketball star Jimmer Fredette will represent the United States at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Rathausplatz Vienna, Austria on May 30 – June 4.
The 2011 Naismith Award Winner will make his World Cup debut alongside teammates Dylan Travis, Canyon Barry and Kareem Maddox. Last year, the quartet won the AmeriCup in Miami, Fla., with Fredette hitting the game winning shot against Puerto Rico.

The men’s team, led by Joe Lewandowski, were drawn into Pool B and will take on Latvia (9:10 a.m. MT) and Australia (11:20 a.m. MT) on Wednesday, May 31, before closing out pool play against Slovenia (11:20 a.m. MT) and Austria (1:20 MT) on Friday, June 2.

The play-in round and quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday, June 3, followed by the semifinals and championship on Sunday, June 4.
Fredette was drafted No. 10 in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and then to traded the Sacramento Kings after taking college basketball by storm his senior year. He appeared in 251 games during his six-year NBA career while also playing overseas in Greece and China.
“The Jimmer” was the nation’s leading scorer at 28.9 points per game in 2010-11, leading the Cougars to their first Sweet 16 since 1981. He was named the consensus national player of the year while also being awarded the Wooden Award, the Naismith Trophy, the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
He concluded his collegiate career as BYU’s all-time leading scorer with 2,599 points. He also set the team single-season scoring record with 1,068 points in 2010-11. His 28.9 points per game in 2010-11 are a Cougar record as well. Fredette rewrote nearly every Mountain West single-game season and career scoring records.
