PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s basketball is one of four teams slated to compete in the inaugural Vegas Showdown on November 23-24 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, ESPN Events announced on Thursday afternoon. 

The Cougars will be joined by Arizona State, NC State and Vanderbilt.

BYU, one of the four newest members of the Big 12, enters the 2023-24 season under direction of fifth-year head coach Mark Pope. The Cougars return four starters and 68.3 percent of their scoring from last year’s team that went 19-15.

NC State returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018 as a No. 11 seed in 2022-23, finishing with a record of 23-11. The Pack’s 12 wins in ACC play are tied for the most in a single season in program history.   

Arizona State also made an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round following a 98-73 victory over Nevada. The Sun Devils' 23 wins are tied for the most in a season during Bobby Hurley’s tenure.

Vanderbilt, under the guidance of Jerry Stackhouse, went 22-15 this past season including a trip to the quarterfinals of the NIT.

Matchups, ticket information, times and ESPN platform designations will be released at a later time.
