Eric Mika set to represent USA in FIBA World Cup Qualifying
PROVO, Utah – Former BYU men’s basketball standout Eric Mika will represent USA basketball this weekend as part of the 2022 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Team.
The 12-man USA squad led by Jim Boylen will play two games in the third of six qualifying rounds leading into the 2023 FIBA World Cup. They visit Puerto Rico on July 1 followed by a matchup in Cuba on July 4. Both contests will be streamed HERE.
Mika will represent the USA on the hardwood for the first time since 2020 when he appeared in a pair of games during the AmeriCup Qualifying Tournament. He played a total of 43 minutes in two wins over Puerto Rico averaging 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The only thing certain is those 80 minutes between the lines. Time to represent.

The native of Alpine has played professional in the NBA, Italy, Germany, China, Serbia and France since averaging 20.3 points and 9.2 rebounds and being named a Top 10 finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award as a sophomore in 2017. In just two seasons in Provo (2013-14, 2016-17), Mika scored 1,080 points ranking him 48th on the all-time scoring list.
