BYU finishes homestand on Saturday against Portland

PROVO, Utah – BYU goes for win No. 17 on Saturday, Jan. 22, when the Cougars host Portland at the Marriott Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.

Saturday’s contest will be broadcast on BYUtv and BYUtv app. It will also be broadcast live on BYU Sports Network and BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.

BYU Notes (16-4, 4-1 West Coast Conference)

  • BYU won its 11th straight game at the Marriott Center on Thursday with a 79-71 victory over San Diego to improve to 16-4 overall and 4-1 in West Coast Conference play.
  • Fousseyni Traore recorded his third double-double of the season against the Pilots with 14 points and 11 rebounds. That is tied for the eighth-most by a freshman in program history.
  • Alex Barcello scored 20 or more points for the 17th time in his career on Thursday with a game-high 22 points. The senior is averaging 17.1 points per game, shooting 47.2 percent from the floor, 46.3 percent from 3-point range and 88.9 percent from the free throw line this season.

  • The Pilots rank first in the nation in free throw percentage, shooting 81.6 percent from the charity stripe. They have also made the sixth-most free throws in NCAA Division I men’s basketball, 293.
  • Redshirt sophomore Chris Austin is scoring a team-high 14.7 points per game for the Pilots, shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from 3-point range and 75.3 percent from the free throw line.
