BYU back in action on Saturday to face Weber State in Ogden

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 18, with a trip to Ogden to face the Wildcats of Weber State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.

Saturday’s contest will be broadcast on KJZZ and ESPN+. It will also be broadcast live on BYU Sports Network on the BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.

BYU Notes (8-2, 0-0 West Coast Conference)

  • Following an 82-71 setback to Creighton at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. last Saturday, BYU returns to action with the fourth of five in-state games this season.
  • The Cougars have never lost consecutive regular season games under third-year head coach Mark Pope.
  • Alex Barcello scored a season-high 28 points against the Bluejays, marking the 15th time in his career he has scored 20 or more points. The senior guard from Chandler, Ariz. has scored in double figures in 13 straight games dating back to last season after setting a career-high in field goals and field goal attempts.
  • Gideon George had 11 rebounds against Creighton, making him the first Cougar to have double digit rebounds off the bench since Caleb Lohner on Dec. 12, 2020 against Utah.

Weber State Notes (9-2, 2-0 Big Sky)

  • Weber State enters Saturday’s game at 9-2 overall and 2-0 in Big Sky following a 15-point loss to Utah State on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats won their first eight games of the season, their best start since 1985-86 when they started the season with 10 straight victories.
  • Dillon Jones ranks second in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (8.6/game) and double-doubles (7). The reigning Big Sky Freshman of the Year is averaging 12.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game shooting 59.3 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from three and 78.4 percent from the free throw line.
  • Koby McEwen is the leading scorer for the Wildcats at 16.5 points per game. The Toronto, Canada native has scored in double figures in 10 of 11 starts including a season-high 30 in a win over Ball State on Nov. 19.
