Harding, Harward, Knell receive WCC All-Academic honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Connor Harding, Richard Harward and Trevin Knell were recognized for their success on and off the court when the West Coast Conference released its 2021 All-Academic honors on Wednesday.

Harding and Knell were both named to the WCC All-Academic Team and Harward was selected as Academic Honorable Mention.

This season Knell achieved a 3.55 GPA as a pre-business major in the classroom, while establishing himself as a 3-point sharpshooter on the hardwood. The sophomore from Woods Cross, Utah finished the season with the WCC’s third-best 3-point shooting percentage at .403. Knell recorded a career-high 20 points in the WCC Tournament Championship Game against Gonzaga on March 9.

Harding held a 3.31 GPA in entrepreneurial management, while coming off the bench to average 5.4 points-per-game and shooting 40.3 percent from the field for the Cougars last season. The junior guard from Pocatello, Idaho scored a career-high 17 points as he helped BYU defeat rival Utah in an 82-64 win on Dec. 12. This marks the second-straight season Harding has been named academic all-conference.

Harward posted a 3.21 GPA as a Psychology major in his first season of action for the Cougars. The junior center from Orem, Utah distinguished himself as a physical force in the paint, averaging 6.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 60.2 percent from the field. Harward recorded one of his two double-doubles on the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds in a crucial road win over San Francisco on Jan. 16.
