BYU forward Caleb Lohner was today named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week presented by University Credit Union after helping the Cougars to an 82-64 victory over Pac-12 rival Utah on Saturday.

The 6-8 forward from Dallas, Texas, averaged 5.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games last week versus Boise State and Utah. In the victory over Utah, Lohner scored eight points and grabbed a career high 10 boards to pace BYU.

As a true freshman, Lohner leads the 6-2 Cougars in rebounding, averaging 6.8 boards per game. He is also tied for the team lead in steals (7) with Alex Barcello and is tied for second in free-throws made (11) with Richard Harward. Lohner has started four of the Cougars eight games.

BYU returns to action on Friday, Dec. 18, when they travel San Diego State to take on the Aztecs in the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl.
