Brandon Davies named one of the top players in Europe
Former BYU forward Brandon Davies, who plays for Zalgiris Kaunas in the Lithuanian Basketball League, was named one of the top professional basketball players in Europe as he earned a spot on the All-EuroLeague First Team.
The EuroLeague is made up of the champions and other top teams from the best European national domestic leagues. The teams play a regular season schedule with the top eight teams qualifying for a spot in the EuroLeague postseason.
During EuroLeague play, Davies was sixth in the league in scoring (14.2 points per game), 11th in rebounding (5.5 boards per game) and seventh in performance index rating (16.9). He shot 55.9 percent from the field and added 2.0 assists per game. Davies led Zalgiris to a record of 15-15 and a spot in the quarterfinals of the EuroLeague postseason.
Last season, Davies led Zalgiris to the semifinals of the EuroLeague and earned player of the month honors in April.
EuroLeague teams also play in their domestic league simultaneously. Davies has led Zalgiris to a first-place record of 32-3 in the Lithuanian Basketball League with two games to play. He is averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 63.7 percent from the field.
In 2017-18, Davies led Zalgiris to a 32-4 record in the Lithuanian Basketball League regular season. Zaligiris swept through the quarter- and semifinals before defeating Lietuvos Rytas 4-1 in the finals.
