Childs to hire an agent and declare for the 2019 NBA Draft

PROVO, Utah – Former BYU forward Yoeli Childs has announced he will declare for the 2019 NBA Draft and hire an agent.

Childs announced his intentions to pursue a professional career on Wednesday via Twitter.

A 6-foot-8 forward from South Jordan, Utah, Childs concludes his BYU career with 1,609 points, 882 rebounds, 142 blocks and 37 double-doubles. He is 14th in career points, fifth in rebounds, third in blocks and tied for third in double-doubles.

Childs’ career averages are 16.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks. His best season was 2018-19 when he averaged 21.2 points and 9.7 rebounds while hitting 32 3-point field goals.

In addition to making his mark on the BYU record book, Childs collected numerous honors throughout his career. He was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team, the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District VIII Team and the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 9 First Team as a sophomore and junior. He was also named WCC Player of the Week three times and to the WCC All-Tournament Team in 2018.

Childs prepped at Bingham High School where he was a two-time first-team all-state honoree. In 2015-16, he led Bingham to the Utah 5A state title.
