Bergersen and Hardnett to transfer

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose announced today that guards Rylan Bergersen and Jahshire Hardnett are transferring from the program.

Bergersen, a 6-foot-6 guard from Boise, Idaho, played two seasons for the Cougars and appeared in 50 games. He posted career highs of eight points, four rebounds and three assists and shooting percentages of 43.5 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from 3-point range. Bergersen will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules and will then have two years of eligibility remaining.

Hardnett played in 55 games and made 47 starts the last two seasons in Provo. The 6-foot guard from Gulfport, Mississippi, averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 81.4 percent from the free-throw line. Hardnett had career highs of 24 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while playing at BYU. Following his anticipated graduation this summer, Hardnett will be eligible to play next season as a graduate transfer.
