ST. LOUIS – For the second-straight season, Yoeli Childs has been named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District VIII Team. District VIII includes all NCAA Division I institutions from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

Childs, an All-West Coast Conference First Team honoree, has posted averages of 21.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 block per game in 2018-19. He has season highs of 31 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and five steals.

A junior from South Jordan, Utah, Childs has posted 17 double-doubles and 18 20-point games. He had a string of three-straight 31-point games against Weber State, Utah State and Utah, becoming the first Cougar to record such a streak since Jimmer Fredette in 2011.

All-District Teams are based on voting from the USBWA’s national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year. For each of the nine geographic districts, 10 players are selected (11 in the case of ties in the voting) as well as a player and coach of the year.
