Rose announces the signing of Da Silva, Hansen and Li to NLIs

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball coach Dave Rose has announced that Bernardo Da Silva, Nate Hansen and Shengzhe Li have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Cougars.

A 6-foot-9 forward from Brazil, Da Silva plays for Dave Evans at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. In 2017-18, he helped lead the Tigers to a 24-2 record, including a 12-game win streak to end the season. Da Silva also plays for the Utah Mountain Stars, coached by former Cougars Marty Haws and Kevin Nixon. During the summer of 2018, he averaged 14.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.

Hansen hails from Provo, Utah,  and plays for former Cougar Kevin Santiago at Timpview High School. In 2017-18, the 6-foot-3 guard helped lead the T-Birds to a record of 17-7 overall and 8-2 in region play while averaging 15.1 points and draining 53 3-pointers. He scored in double figures 18 times, had 20-plus points six times and registered season highs of 30 points, nine assists, eight steals and six 3-point field goals. Hansen plays for the Utah Mountain Stars and plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following high school.

Originally from Shanghai, China, Li plays for former BYU assistant Jeff Reinert at Santa Margarita Catholic in Santa Margarita, California. A 6-foot-10 center, Li averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds while helping Santa Margarita to a record of 20-10 in 2017-18. Prior to playing for Santa Margarita, Li played two years in Spain for the Canarias Basketball Academy in Las Palmas. He also plays for the Pump N Run club during the AAU season.
