SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU men's basketball coach Dave Rose participated in a panel discussion Tuesday about the 2018 Zions Bank Beehive Classic at Vivint Smart Home Arena with the head coaches from Utah, Utah State and Weber State.

Utah Jazz TV broadcaster Craig Bolerjack moderated the discussion that included comments from each coach about the Beehive Classic and their respective teams. See the entire discussion at the Vivint Smart Home Arena Facebook page.

Coach Rose on the Beehive Classic
"Basketball in the state of Utah is a real tradition and there’s a real passion for each other’s universities. I think it’s important that we play. This is a great venue and a great situation and I’m just happy and excited to be a part of it."

Coach Rose on the 2018-19 BYU men's basketball team
"Hopefully these guys can live up to the tradition of the groups that we’ve had in the past. We’ve had 13-straight postseason trips. There’s a lot of pressure on the group. They feel that urgency to be able to get ourselves into the postseason and back into the NCAA tournament. I think it’ll be an exciting group. It’s an upper-class group. I’ve got a roster that’s a majority of upper classmen. I’m excited to have the core of our team from last year back that won 24 games. Hopefully it’ll be an extremely competitive group that fights and plays hard and a team that can win."

The 2018 Beehive Classic will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at Vivint Smart Home Arena. BYU will play Utah at noon and Utah State and Weber State will play at 2:30 p.m. MST. Television plans will be announced at a later date.
