PROVO, Utah – The NCAA informed BYU athletics that it has concluded its review of the reinstatement request for men’s basketball guard Nick Emery. As part of Emery’s reinstatement conditions, he will be required to sit out the first nine games of the 2018-19 season.

Emery, a junior from Alpine, Utah, sat out the 2017-18 season after withdrawing from school in the fall of 2017. He will rejoin the BYU basketball program this summer as it begins preparation for the 2018-19 season. Emery has two years of eligibility remaining.

In two seasons as a Cougar, Emery has averaged 14.7 points per game and became just the fourth BYU player to reach 1,000 career points as a sophomore. As a freshman, he was named second-team All-West Coast Conference and also made the All-WCC Freshman Team.
