Childs declares for 2018 NBA Draft while maintaining eligibility

PROVO, Utah – BYU sophomore forward Yoeli Childs has announced that he will enter his name in the 2018 NBA Draft but will maintain his college eligibility by not hiring an agent.

By declaring for the NBA Draft, Childs can be invited to workouts with NBA teams beginning April 24. Early-entry players who have not hired an agent are eligible to be invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago (May 16-20). The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft while maintaining NCAA eligibility is May 30.

A 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward, Childs was a first-team All-West Coast Conference player and earned USBWA and NABC All-District honors. He helped lead the Cougars to 24 wins while averaging 17.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. Childs also shot a team-best 54.1 percent from the field and had 15 double-doubles.

Childs posted season highs of 33 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and five blocks in 2017-18.
